In a significant move, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, sworn in at Bhopal’s Motilal Nehru Stadium, announced a ban on the open sale of meat and eggs in Madhya Pradesh. The decision, part of the government’s commitment to food safety rules, will be enforced through a collaborative effort involving the food department, police, and local urban bodies. The ban is set to be effective from December 15 to 31.

Chief Minister Yadav, hailing from a robust RSS background, revealed this decision along with other key measures during his inaugural state cabinet meeting. “It has also been decided to act against the sale of meat and eggs in the open in accordance with the existing food safety rules related guidelines. The action will happen after proper public awareness

measures,” stated Mr. Yadav.

The government’s initiatives extend beyond this ban, with welcoming measures for those on the path to the temple of Lord Ram in Ayodhya and providing Rs 4,000 per bag to tendu leaf pluckers. Furthermore, the cabinet has endorsed the implementation of the Cyber Tehsil Scheme across all 55 districts from January 1. This scheme aims to facilitate ‘Namantaran’ (transfer of property title) through a streamlined single-window facility.

To ensure the success of the meat and fish sale ban, a comprehensive campaign will be conducted by the food department, police, and local urban bodies. This concerted effort reflects the government’s commitment to upholding food safety standards and promoting public awareness on the matter.
